Man Overboard

I see the Man Booker shortlist is now available. Sarah Waters is the bookies favourite because nobody has heard of the other five. The winner gets £50,000, the shortlisted writers £2,500 plus a designer bound edition of their own book. Just the thing for the coffee table so that friends can see they didn't quite make it.

Sarah Waters is, of course, famous for giving Chic Lit a new dimension and also inspiring a never to be forgotten scene in television's version of her book 'Tipping the Velvet.' The bookies seldom get it right so it's best to resist ambling down to Ladbrooks for a punt on Sarah. We'll see, all will be revealed on 10 October when the winner is announced.

My First Post

In my first post a bit about myself. I am an architect a rally driver and worst of all I try to write, which really means I look for an excuse not to write at all. At present I have two really good reasons not to do anything. My little children's book ' The Market' is about to be powered up the league table on Amazon. When I sort out the marketing and find a lot of people to buy it on the same day. Then there is my latest book 'Circuit Breaker' which is being bounced by agents who lack my vision, or maybe know what sells and what doesn't. The hassle and stress caused by all this is so time consuming that there aren't enough hours in the day to do much else. Flash fiction is a bit of a salvation, a story in 250 words. Not too much trouble, although it would be nice to do a flash sentence or maybe even a flash word. More soon on my pursuit of non writing.
