Old Glory

Yesterday I was once again surfing YouTube and came across a clip entitled  Flying The Flag . An American parachutist jumped at an airshow, attached to an enormous flag. This fluttered across the sky while The Star Spangled Banner was played on the public address system. All very - er - American, but quite moving in its way and not to be sneered at. Great care was taken to avoid the flag touching the ground on landing, but as it was the size of a double decker bus this was not quite achieved, despite having numerous catchers in position. Their lack of success caused outrage amongst American viewers in the YouTube comments section.

How different to our lack of respect for the Union Flag. When did you last see one flying? The country has been steamrollered into splitting into the four home nations each with its own parliament and its own flag. Within a generation the Union flag will have vanished into the dustbin of history and four flags will fly over the British Isles. That is if we are not united under the green flag of Hamas.

Plan B is moving along and into a typed draft expanding as I go. I must sort out how many chapters, but as the plot keeps evolving that is not easy. I now have Part One and Part Two which will take place two years later. The plot is indeed thickening.
