Waiting for Godot

I saw 'Waiting for Godot' in London at the weekend. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen made it the hottest ticket in town. This was a privilege to see. 'The Horse Painters' is now on Amazon. I have had some kind reviews for which I send the writers greetings and thanks. I have just finished reading 'The Red Badge of Courage' by Stephen Crane. It was on one of my reading lists and I never got round to reading it. Oxfam fixed that last week and I am pleased it did. A very fine and well written book it is and has the massive advantage of being short. Another book that everybody has read except me is 'Catcher in the Rye' I'm waiting for it to sell on Amazon at 69p and then I'll pounce.

Orange Prize

The 2009 Orange Prize has been won by Marilynne Robinson for Home. There have been murmurings that a prize for female writers is an anachronism. After all they frequently beat men in the other major competitions. My suggestion is to combine it with the Man Booker. It could be called the Orangeman Prize. Which would go down rather well in Northern Ireland. Some of the time.

The saga of The Horse Painters continues. I have received a copy of the book from the publisher, but it is not launched yet. Now I have to promote it. The impressive The Frugal Book Promoter by Carolyn Howard-Johnson is very useful. All 283 pages of it.
