WOOD Green Animal Shelters are appealing for information about a stray dog that was found on the side of a railway line last week with terrible injuries and brought in their Cambridgeshire Shelter.
The two year old Boxer cross named Clara by staff at Wood Green had severe burns on her chest and legs which could have been caused by her being hit by a car and then possibly dragging herself down to the railway line for safety. Clara also has two fractures and a hole in the left of her chest.
On x-ray staff at the animal welfare charity also found that she had pellets lodged in her chest where she has clearly been shot at.
Despite her terrible injuries and clearly a horrendous experience she is an extremely friendly dog who loves all of the staff and other dogs at the Shelter.
Linda Cantle, Deputy Head of Animal Welfare for Wood Green Animal Shelters said "Clara is a lovely dog and we are amazed at how well she is coping with her injuries. She has allowed the staff to treat her wounds while she just lies back enjoying all of the attention. We were stunned when she was brought in; her injuries looked terrible and she must have been in a great deal of pain".
Wood Green are appealing for anyone that may have information about what happened to Clara or even where she may have come from. Please contact Wood Green Animal Shelters on 0844 248 8181 if you have any details.
