THE big guns are still trained on the Ridley League Darts Cup, and there could be a couple of explosive semi-finals on the cards.

Rayne Cock surged through 5-2 against a below-strength Dunmow Cricketers. The North Section leaders battled all the way, Kevin Hume hitting a maximum and Chris Butler finishing from 100, but were up against it when the Cock took three in a row. Julius Godfrey clinched it for the visitors with a game to spare.

Galleywood Eagle's big-hitters took no prisoners against the Black Lion. Matt Doe had a 112 finish and three more tons against Rob Manning, and there were big starts by Harry Smith (160), Lee Skinner (140) and Alex Tinsley (117), who racked up five other ton-plus scores. Tony Williamson grabbed the Lion's point.

The Retreat made their presence felt at Bardfield, though the Vine gave as good as they got early on, Rob Wright taking Danny Bell to three legs and Andy Kimber grabbing the second game. But the Bocking side reeled off three on the trot to claim victory inside the distance.

In that company, the Chequers must be outsiders for the trophy, though they deserve credit for KO-ing Flitch Snooker, even if the club are a shadow of the side which won the trophy two years ago. Barry Linin's key win over Dean Dix gave the Felsted side a 3-2 lead, and with Colin Benfield taking the sixth game, Graham Milbank's clash with Matt Day was a dead rubber.

- THE Beehive's improving darts record continued with a seventh South Section win in 11 matches, but they were pipped overall in their rearranged fixture at Mill Green. Andy McAdams (Cricketers) was a three-times winner, a 160 start highlighting his singles against Steve Walker.

- RESULTS - Lge, North (late result): Cock 14, Vine 1 (singles 6-1, mixed 1-0, women 1-0, dominoes 6-0). South: Cricketers MG 8, Beehive 7 (2-5, 1-0, 1-0, 4-2). Darts Cup, Qtr-finals: Cricketers Dun. 2, Cock 5; Eagle 6, Black Lion 1; Flitch Snooker 3, Chequers 4; Vine 1, Retreat 4.

- FIXTURES (March 27) - North: Black Horse v Cricketers Dun, Cock v Black Lion, Flitch Snooker v Vine, Retreat v Three Horseshoes. South: Chelmsford SC v Bird in Hand, Eagle v White Horse, Ship v Swan.
