WILL CLARKE will have to wait until June to discover if he has done enough to earn a place at the 2012 Olympics.
Clarke finished 15th in the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Grand Final in Beijing, China, on Saturday, meaning he drops one place in the world rankings to ninth as the season comes to an end.
Alistair Brownlee won the race, and the series, and he and his brother Jonathan have already booked their spots in the Great Britain team for the London games.
Waterbeach-based Clarke is hoping to claim the other spot in the team, but his chances could be reduced if selectors decide to include a domestique - or pacemaker - to aid the Brownlee brothers’ medal hopes. A decision will not be made until June next year.
In Beijing, Clarke finished the course in a time of one hour, 49 minutes, 28 seconds, one minute 21 seconds behind winner Brownlee.
